Our EQUINE CAMP will also be offering two shows, with campers riding at 10:00 and again at 1:30.

Everyone is invited!!!

What a week...

Wow...what a week! The kids have run us ragged this week, but what a way to end our camp for the year!!! After Mystery Day, highlights included a wet and wild day of fun with the Sugar Creek Fire Department, Swimming, and our American Idol Contest (complete with magic show, DJ & Karaoke).

AWARD WINNING GROUPS for the week included ADV 2, ART, EQ 1 & 2...and despite not getting the group of the day award, ADV 1 came on strong at the end to win our American Idol contest last night! Great job everyone!

And thanks to all campers, counselors, ROSIE, "the Julies", Lisa, and all the terrific parents for another great summer at Camp at the Woods!

Ghostly Appearances at Mystery Day!

Mystery at the Woods Day was a smashing success yesterday! It started with campers and counselors alike plotting to get John and Rosie...And sure enough, John disappeared in the morning but returned in the afternoon only to find Rosie and the fishing poles missing.

The missing fishing poles threw the counselors into a state of panic, while the campers were more concerned with what happened to Rosie. However, with some outstanding teamwork, the kids found Rosie in record time, hog-tied and gagged in LeFer Hall. After much deliberation, the kids finally decided to take the gag out of Rosie's mouth, but only after making her promise not to talk too much anymore!

But then, Rosie got her revenge!!! All the kids were given the option of attending ghost stories or watching movies, and those who went to the ghost stories were treated to a special guest appearance by the Faceless Nun herself (a stunt that resulted in the longest collective scream ever recorded here at Camp at the Woods)! But worry not, readers, the kids all got a good laugh out of it when our resident ghost was revealed to be none other than Rosie herself.

So on that note...we're off to get ready for the Fire Department tonight--the wettest and wildest event of Surf's Up day here at camp! Hope you're having as much fun as we are!

Elisha Mone Live from the Theater Camp!

I'm baaaaaack! Yes, it's me, Elisha Mone, reporting live from the Theater Camp, where we started slow, but have recently come on strong to win FRED (the owl of the day award) and our first annual American Idol contest!! Let's just hope our string of success carries on to our big show this Friday!

This year the theater is putting on the show at 1:30 pm. It is called Beauty is a Beast. It is about a princess named Beauty who only cares about herself. Unfortunately she has to learn her lesson from a bunch of pirates. She is never the same after Nick the pirate helps her get through all the rest of them. This may sound like a romantic story, but it is actually a story that teaches people and Beauty a lesson to be kind to others.

Beauty is played by Mary Elizabeth Grant. Honor, Beauty’s sister, is played by Samantha Ginopios. Nick is played by Jacob Wheeler. The Fairy godmother is played by Anna Goodman. Andres is played by Courtland Jones. Mary is played by Makenzie Lowry. Sarah is played by Morgan Lubbehusen. Janie is played by Rebecca Faulkinbury. Scribe is played by Cassidy Cerrulli. The King is played by Sasha Sizinteva. The tutor is played by Allison Shepard. Capt. Joe is played by Tyler Snider. Patrick is played by Charis Munro. Charlie is played by Vera Snizintseva. Jon is played by Hannah Ater. Peter is played by me Elisha Mone.

To get us ready for acting we do lots of warm ups, including tongue twisters thata help us pronounce words. We play improv games to help with acting, add-on games to help with memorizing, drill down works on paying attention, and rhythm and memorizing commands improves concentration. What do kids like the best? Besides our director, they like playing the freeze game, being with friends, playing with props, tongue twisters, photo booth, crying angels, and having fun with their friends.

I for one have had a great week and am glad I could share our week with you!

Signing off for Camp '08, this is Elisha Mone.

Special Guest Blog by Elisha Mone!

June 17, 2008

Hi Blog at the Woods Fans! This is guest blog reporter, Elisha Mone, reporting to you live from Camp at the Woods!

Yester day was mystery day at camp at the woods. It started out any other day when Rosie handed out Fred the camp mascot to the team of the day(adventure 1). But unfortunately he disappeared an hour later. So then every one was thinking of who took Fred. Rosie came around asking if anyone knew were Fred was. When everyone went to lunch, we found him in the ice cream freezer, but then John (the camp director) went missing!

Detective Rodriguez (Rosie) came in to investigate all the suspects. Her crazy assistant Dorkmyer ( Sarah K) was also there. Most of my group thought it was our counselors Ashley and Zach. To be sure we went on a scavenger hunt to find more evidence on who it was. Some of the riddles you got were normal and some were tricky, but we finally figured it out. We found John at the flag pole tied up with the rope from the flag. It ended up being Zach. We wanted to throw him in the lake but we all dogpiled on him instead. Since Equine 2 found Fred and John first, they got the owl award (Fred) for the next day.

Check back tomorrow to find out about theater camp.

This is your fearless camp report, Elisha Mone, signing out! Happy Camping!!!

FLOODS, BLOGS, BOGS & MORE

Wow!!! What a way to start Camp at the Woods' 27th Season!!! After 9 inches of rain, trees shattered by lightning and other dramatic events all around, we finally welcomed our first group of campers (a day late on Monday, the 9th). Despite all the water, rain and challenges, however, the spirits of our campers weren't dampened one bit!!!

In fact, several of our groups stepped up and won the OWL of the DAY Award, giving them elevator privileges, and allowing them to watch movies and to sleep in the air conditioned lounge. I think the highlight, though, was when Dance won "FRED" (the owl) and proceeded to dress him up in a build-a-bear bikini--only to have the gang from Adventure 2 win the next day and "man-up" Fred with a mohawk!

More drama with Fred was seen on Wednesday when Fred was kidnapped and then returned with a threatening note, which was f0llowed by the disappearance of our Director, John. After being gone for several hours, John was finally found on the Bridge, tied and gagged, by our fearless dancers--who proceeded to put on a fantastic show just two days later!!!

On the Equine front, the campers also did a fantastic job and had a terrific show in the morning but were rained out (and LIGHTNINGED out) in the afternoon. Nonetheless, a good time was had by all, and today marked the beginning of yet another new week of adventures!!!
